As an Engineering student getting 65% may satisfy you. You might get satisfied by your marks sheets. But there is something that you have to know. Most of the time employers are not bothered about your academic performance and marks. They just need as least as 60%. Candidate who has got 90% also stands in the same place as 60%. To get attention, all you need is handfull of softskills. In this article I try to list some of the skills that really helps you to secure a good carrer. These tips are helpfull for both CS and ECE students.
1. Learn to program.
There might be boundaries in your syllabus. But one should not live inside the box while learning. Basics of programming and data structures is must for EC and CS students.

2. Learn to use Development boards.
This might sound odd to a CS student. Now a days for RTOS, Firmware development and product based IT companies, CS students with hardware knowledge are preferred. EC students must have hands on experience with development boards preferably arduino and raspberry pi. They will help in final year projects as too.
3. Good aptitude and Communication(Both written and Spoken)
Selection process for fresher's in most of the companies starts with aptitude and GroupDiscussion(GD). Try to be good in aptitude. Its a measure of how quick learner you are! Practice professional writing. Do mock discussions with your friends as a practise for GD.
4. Embedded system protocols and PCB designing.
This is not applicable to CSE and is must for ECE students. One must know communication protocols such IC, I2C, SPI, UART USART etc . one must have hands on experience on EAGLE and CAD softwares like Multi-Sim.
5. Networking
For both CSE and ECE students networking(commonly referred as CCNA) is a very important subject to be learnt. Knowing OSI model, and different protocols might get you into reputed companies like Cisco. There are lots more opportunites in networking field alone.
6. Android app development and Basic HTML(HIGH END)
This is must for both ECE and CSE students because most of the embedded products relays on smart phone controls and server controls because of the industrial trend IoT.
7. Knowledge of IoT and data science.(HIGH END)
IoT and Big data are the two new words that are booming in IT sector's. These two are not must, but knowing them makes you a professional!
